AI agents accounted for very few transactions on Uber during the company’s busiest week in October. On its third-quarter earnings call, Uber said just four rides were booked through an AI agent during the week of Halloween.

Uber Eats saw more activity from AI agents, but the total remained small. Chief Financial Officer Balaji Krishnamurthy said the company handled about 320 million trips and orders across Uber and Uber Eats that week, including 500 Uber Eats orders placed by AI agents.

“It is very, very early and very limited traction that we are seeing so far,” CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told analysts, adding that Uber hopes usage will grow.

Khosrowshahi said booking a ride in the Uber app takes an average of 50 seconds, while reordering a favorite meal takes 90 seconds. He suggested that AI agents may not yet offer a meaningful time-saving advantage for these tasks.

Despite the limited number of AI-driven transactions, Khosrowshahi described agents as a potential opportunity to bring more demand to Uber’s platform. He said around eight major AI assistants are currently available and expects that number to rise above 10. He also said AI companies are in talks with Uber.
