The GMC Hummer EV is being updated for the new model year with more power and additional technical features. According to Handelsblatt, the top version now delivers up to 853 kW (1,160 PS), made possible by a new battery pack with 24 modules and 212 kWh of capacity. The report describes the vehicle as an “electric car of madness” — a roughly 4.5-tonne machine whose green credentials remain morally ambiguous.
Beyond output, the Hummer gains bidirectional charging, which allows it to function as a rolling emergency power generator. It also adds a King Crab mode that complements the existing CrabWalk function. CrabWalk lets the truck move diagonally at low speeds, while King Crab is described as offering even faster rear-wheel steering.
The report notes that when the Hummer returned in 2021 as an electric vehicle, the transformation drew amusement and some skepticism. At around 4.5 tonnes, the GMC project was likened to a Trump speech: entertaining but morally borderline. The update does not resolve that tension, the article suggests, noting that saving the world remains difficult.
