Apple Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan said the iPhone Duo remains in short supply, with no clear timeline for when deliveries will catch up with demand. Speaking during the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings call on Monday, he said production was increasing and Apple was working to get the device to customers as quickly as possible.

“It’s really hard to predict when supply and demand will be in balance,” Khan said. Customers who missed launch-day purchases or preorders are seeing estimated delivery dates stretch into next year. Verizon has apologized to customers for delays and offered gift cards.

The iPhone Duo reportedly sold out on Apple’s website within hours of going on sale. Apple described demand for the device as exceptionally strong in an October report cited by the Financial Times.

The delays came amid questions on the earnings call about higher memory-chip costs, which the report links to rising demand from the AI industry. Khan said Apple had reluctantly raised prices on some products. The company also said it was deepening its partnership with titanium producer Perryman to support materials for the foldable device.

CEO John Ternus said Apple was pleased with the early response from reviewers and customers and was working to deliver the iPhone Duo as quickly as possible.
