the White House has rescheduled a planned hearing involving Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook for Dec. 14, a White House official said. The change came after Cook’s lawyers said she was unavailable on Nov. 5 because of scheduling conflicts.
President Trump has sought to remove Cook over allegations that she misrepresented her finances to secure more favorable mortgage terms. Cook has denied the allegations, which have not been brought in court.
The Supreme Court blocked Trump’s earlier attempt to oust her in June, finding that the White House had not given Cook a full opportunity to respond. The administration later established a special panel to investigate whether there were grounds for her removal. The panel includes three presidential allies and deputies.
Cook’s lawyers have questioned the panel’s objectivity and suitability, citing Trump’s past threats and the conduct and comments of its members. They have also raised concerns about the investigation, which is overseen by three of the president’s political appointees.
