Representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the United States are expected to hold working-level talks in Abu Dhabi next week, according to US special envoy Steve Witkoff. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, he said in a post on X.

Witkoff said the discussions would cover postwar security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian assistance and further steps toward peace.

US representatives are also due to meet this week in Brussels with officials from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, NATO and the European Union. Those discussions will focus on security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe’s postwar security order and reconstruction.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last month, after talks with Witkoff, that Russia was ready to resume trilateral contacts. The last negotiations in the format involving the United States, Russia and Ukraine took place in Geneva in February. Earlier meetings were held twice in Abu Dhabi.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last week that he hoped the European Union could also be involved in talks with Russia and the United States. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, meanwhile, has criticized European efforts to take part in the peace process.
