President Trump criticized Fox News repeatedly on Tuesday as he watched the network’s coverage of the midterm elections. Over 95 minutes, he published three complaints on Truth Social, objecting to its polling and accusing the channel of being against him.
Trump called the network’s poll “the worst” and said its questions were insulting. In a separate post, he claimed Fox News’ ratings were “way down” because the channel was “AGAINST me!” He also complained that the network was giving too much attention to Democratic candidates and too little to his rallies.
The president took particular aim at Jessica Tarlov, a liberal pundit and co-host of “The Five,” calling her “DUMB AS A ROCK” and saying he would watch another channel until she was off the air. He also sent a text to the show’s other co-host, Greg Gutfeld, with suggestions for how to respond to her arguments. Gutfeld showed the message on air, and Tarlov joked, “Just press ‘stop.’”
Trump had said he would return to watching Fox News, and appeared to do so during the 6 p.m. hour. At 7 p.m., he posted a 184-word criticism of the network, accusing it of spending too much time covering Democrats he described with an insult.
Later in the evening, Fox News pundit and former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said she had spoken with Trump. She said he remained “cautiously optimistic” and had told her he “left it all on the field.”
