Salesforce has agreed to acquire Rune Technologies for $375 million in cash and stock, according to Resilience Media. Rune develops artificial intelligence software that helps the U.S. military forecast supply needs and manage logistics in the field.
The deal would expand Salesforce’s defense technology efforts through Missionforce, its business unit focused on national security and defense agencies. Salesforce said Missionforce’s business grew 80% year over year after launching last year, supported in part by a new 10-year, $5.6 billion contract with the U.S. Army.
Integrating Rune’s frontline logistics data could broaden Missionforce’s role beyond administrative and back-office planning to include support for battlefield operations.
Founded in 2024, Rune has raised $30 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures and IQT, a CIA-backed nonprofit venture firm formerly known as In-Q-Tel. PitchBook reported that the startup was last valued at $127 million during a Series A round led by Human Capital last year.
The reported acquisition is part of a wider series of Salesforce deals this year. The company has also agreed to acquire AI agent platform Fin, formerly Intercom, for $3.6 billion, bought Qualified for $1.2 billion and signed an agreement to acquire Listen Labs after the startup withdrew from a $125 million Series C term sheet at a $1.5 billion valuation.
Salesforce did not respond to a request for comment.
