A Russian attack on a school in Komyshuvakha, in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, killed dozens of civilians, according to the supplied report. Glide bombs struck the building on Monday morning, shortly after people in need had arrived to collect aid.
The school, about 20 kilometres from the front line, no longer holds classes. It is used once a week to distribute humanitarian supplies to local residents.
The attack followed a temporary humanitarian operation in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky. Representatives of the two sides coordinated to deliver aid and evacuate people seeking to leave the city, which had been surrounded for months. Several hundred civilians were brought out of immediate danger during the operation, made possible by what the report describes as the longest local ceasefire since the start of the war.
After that effort ended, Russian forces carried out several further attacks, the report said. The strike on the school was described as the deadliest.
