Mercedes-Benz has sold its European fast-charging network to French operator Electra, the companies said. They did not disclose the price of the transaction when asked.
Electra will take over 47 charging parks, with 374 charging points in total. The sites include 31 parks in Germany and six in Austria. Mercedes-Benz customers will gain access to more than 800 Electra stations, comprising over 5,000 charging points across ten European countries.
Mercedes-Benz said it had helped develop fast-charging services early on, through both its own infrastructure and investments. The company added that the market had since evolved, with operators expanding and improving their networks.
The automaker regularly reviews its charging-network strategy in each market, a spokesperson said. Mercedes-Benz decided to sell its European network to Electra as part of that review, aiming to focus resources where they can deliver the greatest value to customers.
