Apple has introduced four Audio Intelligence features for testing in the first developer betas of iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3. For Apple Watch Series 12 users, they can detect important sounds, identify songs, revisit recent speech and summarize conversations in Siri Recaps.

In a day of testing, Siri Recaps showed how automatic note-taking could help when important information is delivered too quickly to write down. During visits to a repair shop and a rental-car provider, it captured details including a deductible, repair timing and the amount of fuel in the rental car.

The feature also recorded less useful conversation. Details about household errands and a family schedule appeared alongside the car-related notes, while a plan to watch midterm coverage was saved despite being unlikely to need a reminder. The experience highlighted both the convenience of the summaries and the discomfort of having a watch listen to everyday conversations.

Apple says the features process audio and run AI models on-device when possible. They do not identify speakers or store raw audio files, and private information such as government ID numbers and account details is redacted. Live Rewind can replay what was said in the previous 15 seconds; Siri Recaps instead summarizes audio throughout the day. The reviewer had not yet found a suitable opportunity to try Live Rewind and expected to use it less often.

The test also pointed to ways Siri Recaps could improve. Separate conversations could be placed in distinct notes rather than grouped under one recap, and users could be given an easier way to remove individual items. The reviewer also wanted an option to automatically send bookmarked recaps to Apple Notes, perhaps in a dedicated folder.

Although the always-listening aspect prompted reservations, the reviewer found that Siri Recaps could be a useful way to retain practical details from daily conversations.
