Anthropic reported nearly $17 billion in revenue for the third quarter ended September 30, a twelvefold increase from the same period a year earlier. The figures were included in an updated filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and could further raise expectations for a record initial public offering by the artificial intelligence company behind Claude.
The company recorded a net loss of $23.3 billion during the three months through the end of September, compared with a loss of $12.1 billion in the year-earlier period.
Anthropic filed for an IPO on October 26 and plans to complete the offering later this year. The company is seeking to surpass SpaceX’s IPO, which reportedly raised about $86.2 billion, according to people familiar with the matter.
The updated figures highlight both the growth potential and financial risks of Anthropic’s expansion. The company has $895 billion in commitments, almost all related to computing capacity and infrastructure. Around $448 billion of those costs are expected to arise by the end of 2030, including approximately $70 billion by September 2027. Anthropic’s filing said that commitments totaling about $100 billion had been added since September 30.
